HOW ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION WORKS

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than visible light. UVC light from special germicidal lamps with wavelengths in the range 200nm to 280nm kills germs, bacteria, pathogens and viruses and has been used as a means of disinfecting and sanitizing for decades- specifically UVC at 254 nm.  UVC light rays may eliminate nearly 99.9% of microbes on phones after one minute. 

UV Radiation: UVC can effectively kill germs and disinfect surfaces. It has been widely used for various disinfection purposes, including water treatment, air purification, and surface sterilization. UV photons in the germicidal range, known as UVC light, has the ability to destroy the DNA and RNA of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, preventing any new strains from developing.

UV Spectrum: UV radiation is divided into three types based on wavelength: UVA (320-400 nm), UVB (290-320 nm), and UVC (200-290 nm). UVA has the longest wavelength, and UVC has the shortest.

UV Radiation Effects: Prolonged exposure to UV rays without proper eye protection can lead to various eye conditions, including cataracts, pterygium, and macular degeneration.
